Massachusetts Electric Load Serving Capacity Map

Last Update: 2026

Load Serving Capacity (MVA)

Load Serving Capacity Map Disclaimer Statement

The Massachusetts Load Serving Capacity Map is provided to give developers and contactors more insight to the available capacity of the electric distribution system. The Load Serving Capacity Map provides distribution circuit information including:

  • Circuit and substation identification
  • Load serving capacity
  • Circuit peak loading
  • Circuit threshold

“Load Serving Capacity” is the maximum estimated capacity (in MVA) that is available on the circuit.

“Circuit Threshold” is the load level (in MVA)  that would trigger major upgrades to the circuit or substation.

The information on this map represents the overall circuit thermal capacity as calculated at a point close to the substation, and does not account for all constraints that could impact interconnection costs.

The map will be updated annually or as large changes to the load or capacity occur. The information provided is non-binding and may not include all operational limits. Proposed projects will need further analysis. If you are interested in interconnecting to the Unitil electric system, please submit a request form through Contractor Request Forms on unitil.com or call 1-888-301-7700.
