Unitil and the City of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, are partnering for the “Main Streets Initiative” to offer no-cost energy assessments for small businesses from Aug. 10 to 14.

In partnership with city officials, Unitil, a sponsor of Mass Save, will provide complimentary small business energy audits in select areas of Fitchburg. Mass Save® is Massachusetts’ statewide energy efficiency and electrification initiative, led by a collaborative of Berkshire Gas, Cape Light Compact, Eversource, Liberty, National Grid, and Unitil. The goal of the initiative is to complete as many audits as possible during the five-day program.

Qualifying energy-saving improvements include LED lighting controls, commercial refrigeration controls, insulation and weatherization, no-cost programmable thermostats, pipe insulation, and water-saving devices.

Unitil has selected the vendor AECOM to conduct energy audits, identifying opportunities for businesses to save money and reduce carbon emissions by improving energy efficiency. Businesses that implement recommended improvements may qualify for enhanced rebates covering up to 90 percent of project costs.

“We’re excited to partner with the city on this initiative,” said Unitil Media Relations Manager Amanda Vicinanzo. “These audits can show businesses how to become more energy-efficient, lower energy costs, and invest in upgrades that support their long-term success.”

Businesses can register for a no-cost energy assessment at unitil.com/mainstreets.
